What is express entry draws ?

An Express Entry draw is a selection process where Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invites candidates from the Express Entry pool to apply for permanent residence. These draws occur approximately every two weeks, but the frequency can vary.
Canada’s immigration system is renowned for its efficiency and focus on attracting skilled talent from across the globe. At the heart of this system is the Express Entry program, which manages applications for three major economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A key component of this program is the Express Entry draw, a regular event that determines which candidates will be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada.

How does it works?

Express Entry draws are a crucial part of Canada's immigration system, where the government invites eligible candidates to apply for permanent residence. Here's a step-by-step explanation of how these draws work

1. Candidate in the Pool

All eligible candidates who have created an Express Entry profile and meet the requirements of one of the immigration programs (FSWP, FSTP, CEC) in the Express Entry pool.

Federal Skilled Worker Program

The FSWP is a part of Canada’s Express Entry system, designed to attract skilled workers globally. It enables eligible candidates to apply for permanent residency in Canada, based on work experience, education, and language skills. Candidates are ranked based on points, and those with the highest scores are invited to apply. The FSWP brings in skilled workers to fill job gaps and boost the economy.

2. Getting a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score

Each candidate in the pool is given a CRS score based on factors like age, education, work experience, language ability, job offer, and provincial nomination.

3. Regular Draws

The Canadian government conducts regular draws from the Express Entry pool approximately every two weeks. During these draws, a minimum CRS score cut-off is set based on which candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada through the Express Entry program.

4. Receiving an ITA

Once you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit your application for permanent residence. This includes providing detailed personal information, supporting documents, and paying application fees.

7. Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)

Candidates nominated by a Canadian province through a PNP receive an additional 600 CRS points, effectively guaranteeing an ITA in the next draw.

How to create profile in express entry pool?

Creating a profile in the Express Entry pool involves a few key steps. First, ensure you meet the 67 points eligibility requirements for one of the Express Entry programs (Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class). Gather necessary documents, including language test results, educational credentials, and your passport. Then, create an account on the IRCC website, where you'll fill out personal details, education, work experience, language skills, and other relevant information. After completing and reviewing your profile, submit it to receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Your profile will then be entered into the Express Entry pool, where you’ll be ranked against other candidates based on your CRS score. If your score is high enough, you may receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in one of the regular draws conducted by the Canadian government.
