Federal Skilled Trade Program

The Federal Skilled Trade Program is designed for skilled workers seeking permanent residency based on qualifications in a skilled trade. Meeting job requirements as per the National Occupational Classification and meeting minimum eligibility criteria are essential for success in the FSTP Program. Key program features include:
- Invitation by IRCC with CRS as low as 199
- Over 100 designated trades and occupations
- No requirement for education level proof
- Remarkable opportunity to permanently live and work in provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

  • Valid Passport and travel record
  • Meet the required level of language proficiency
  • Trade certification or license for the specific occupation if required.
  • Your profession must align with the National Occupation Classification index.
  • Clean criminal record
  • Additional supporting document if required.
  • If the applicant has a valid job offer from a Canadian employer, the job offer letter should be included. The job offer must be supported by a positive Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) in certain cases.

What eligibility criteria must I fulfil to apply under the Federal Skilled Trade Program?

To qualify, you must meet all minimum requirements for FSTP

To be considered, it is required to have at least two years of specialized trade experience within the last five years and satisfy the necessary NOC job criteria and tasks stated in the Canada occupational definition.

Skilled trades work experience

Applicants must possess a valid offer of full-time employment for a minimum of one year, or a certificate of qualification in their skilled trade issued by a Canadian federal, provincial, or territorial authority.

Job offer

Getting a qualification certificate in Canada shows your expertise and professionalism in a skilled trade. It's issued by the governing body or federal authority to fulfill the necessary requirements for working in a province or territory.

Certificate of Accreditation.

You must take approved language tests for reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You need to meet the minimum score required and add your test results to the Express Entry profile. Language tests are valid for two years from the date of the result and should be valid on the day you apply for permanent residence.

Language ability.

Education is not required for the Federal Skilled Trades Program. To increase your score in the Express Entry pool, you can gain points by graduating from a Canadian institution or obtaining an educational credential assessment report from a recognized organization for your foreign education.
